2 Day Ruaha National Park Safari

Your adventure begins in Dar es Salaam, where you will transfer to the airport for your scheduled flight towards Ruaha National Park.

As you leave the coast behind, the scenery changes dramatically, taking you towards the vast wilderness of central and southern Tanzania.

Upon landing at a Ruaha airstrip, you will meet your Luguru Adventures safari guide and 4×4 safari vehicle. After the necessary park formalities, your safari begins immediately.

Rather than simply driving from an airport to your accommodation, the journey into the park becomes part of your wildlife experience. Keep your camera ready as animals can appear along the route at any time.

Begin exploring Ruaha’s spectacular landscapes, including open savannah, woodland, rocky areas, riverine environments, and areas scattered with enormous baobab trees.

Ruaha is particularly famous for its elephants, while the park also provides habitat for lions, leopards, cheetahs, African wild dogs, buffaloes, giraffes, hippos, zebras, and numerous antelope species. The park is also known for distinctive species such as the greater kudu, lesser kudu, sable antelope, and roan antelope.

Continue with an afternoon game drive as the landscape begins to glow beneath the late-afternoon sun.

As the day comes to an end, make your way towards your selected lodge or camp.

Enjoy dinner and a relaxing evening surrounded by the sounds of the African wilderness.

Wake up to the sounds of the African bush and enjoy breakfast before beginning an exciting full-day game drive through Ruaha National Park.

With a packed picnic lunch prepared for the day, set out with your guide to explore different parts of the park.

The Great Ruaha River is one of the defining features of the park and plays an important role in the surrounding ecosystem. Water sources attract wildlife, particularly during the drier months, creating excellent opportunities for game viewing.

As you explore, look out for large elephant herds, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, hippos, and predators. Ruaha is also an important destination for travelers hoping to encounter African wild dogs and some of Tanzania’s less commonly seen antelope species.

Around midday, stop at a designated picnic area and enjoy your lunch surrounded by the natural beauty of Ruaha.

After lunch, continue your game drive through the afternoon, exploring more of the park and taking in its extraordinary combination of wildlife and landscapes.

Eventually, make your way towards the airstrip for your return flight to Dar es Salaam.

Upon arrival in Dar es Salaam, you will be met and transferred to your preferred drop-off point, bringing your short but unforgettable Ruaha safari to an end.
